Cornelius Bothma

Hi

I am an academic at the University of South Africa in Pretoria and am a senior lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. I have been an academic for more than 15 years. Before that, I was a trade representative for South Africa and served as a the regional representative for the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Cape Town, and as a trade representative (now referred to as a foreign economic representative) for South Africa at the Embassy in Vienna, Austria and the Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey. I was with the DTI for 13 years.

I left the DTI to take up a lecturing position first at the Technikon SA and then at Unisa, where I have been ever since. I am in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management and I oversee the honours programme in the marketing department. My areas of interest are quantitative marketing, academic research, digital marketing and social media, biometrics and neuro-economics, and trade/exports. I have authored or co-authored16 books in the field of marketing, as well as contributing to 18 other books. I am working on a further 7 books currently for publication soon. I am also the programme leader for short learning programmes in international marketing and digital marketing.

I am currently busy with my second Masters which explores the role of marketing analytics and metrics within local companies.
